Who Else? And Jacob's Birthday

My life would be completely boring if I didn't have my Zach man to hang out with all day, and he is just becoming crazier and crazier. I wish that I could capture this cute little age of his in a jar, and open it up on a rainy day when I need a smile. So today, the blog will become my jar.

Zach is 14 and a half months old, has 9 teeth and getting two more that I know of. He knows a few words, I don't know what's normal for his age, but he knows: Hi, Mama, Dada, banana (nana), ball, woof, no, and bye. He also roars when I show a picture of a lion. I generally avoid saying banana because he won't stop saying "Nana? Nana?"until I give him one. We go through a ton of bananas in this house.

These past few weeks, he has been trying to sit on just about anything. He'll turn his lego box upside down and sit on it, he tries to sit on his bouncy ball, his toy train, just about anything he can find to turn into a seat.
Peek a boo is one of his favorite games and he especially likes to play it with his lego box on his head. (He's been pretty innovative with that box.)
And he's become quite the climber. We have a toy car that he hasn't figured out how to move with his feet yet, but he managed to stand straight up on the seat... He also was working really hard to stand up on this foot rest, but this is about as far as he got.
I almost wanted to help him because he was working so hard, but I didn't want to encourage his climbing. He also learned how to take off his diaper. That's a fun trick. No more running around with out any pants on.
I just love this boy.

We celebrated Jacob's birthday this weekend. He asked for ribs which was a true labor of love, and they were spectacular. Jacob even said they were life changing! I love Jacob very much and he is a great father to Zach. They wrestle and play every night. Zach even got mad when I tried to feed him breakfast this morning. He wanted his DAD to do it. I can't believe Jacob is 28 years old! What an OLD man! Good thing I like him.

Zach Learns a New Trick

Today Zach learned how to pull down his pants. We were getting ready for dinner and I noticed his pants were around his bottom and then I noticed he was doing it on purpose.

He's also become such a ham. This is the face he makes when he really likes someone or when he is trying to make someone laugh.

Christmas

This Christmas we stayed in Idaho. I tried not to miss my family too much, but at the end of the day, you always miss your family over the holidays. On Christmas Eve we went to Jacob's parents house to celebrate. Of course Jacob and I got to bickering (I can't even remember what it was about) and to try and drop things I just kept apologizing profusely. Then he had to make one last comment. That's when I exploded. I practically screamed, "I SAID SORRY THREE TIMES!" I threw my arms out to the side and gave a little attitude neck roll thing like I was eighth grade... in front of EVERYONE. It was one of those times where everyone was talking and having a good time and then the noise suddenly stopped for a few minutes. I must have forgotten that I was not with my side of the family where everyone probably would have given me the attitude neck roll for the rest of the night. Talk about an awkward moment. But what's Christmas with out an outburst, right?

Christmas day, Jacob took on the male Larsen tradition of making Christmas Stir-About. (A cakey-corn bread like dish. Long story. Only men can make it and we only eat it on Christmas morning. You can eat it with butter and jam or honey. Jacob wanted proof of the Stir-About.
It actually turned out delicious and then we got to the fun part, opening presents. Zach was pretty spoiled this year.  He got a bunch of clothes, trucks, a manga-doodle, a sword, a quiet book for church, bubbles and I can't think of everything else. Jacob's big gift was a sleeping bag and I got curtains, which I was pretty excited about. I must be growing up.

Here's our one picture on Christmas morning. Zach with his sword and bubbles.
We went to a live nativity with a camel. I was clearly way more excited for the camel than Zach.
And that was our Christmas. Next Christmas is already in the works with a trip to San Diego!
